Unique and delightful item showing a Family of 3 HIPPOS laying about in a pool or mud ?, Quite unusual Hippopotamus group carved into a Bowl of 9" x 9" x 3 high. Can be used with water in the bowl to add a extra dimension to the piece. Material is dark brown soapstone SHONA. Hippos are carved and hand polished with contrasting rough scoured bowl creating a pool like effect. Only one I've seen for Shona Sculpture from Zimbabwe. Great artistic expression in soapstone.
