SPESSARTITE ( Spessartine ) Mn3Al2[SiO4]3 This is a great specimen and it is solid Spessartine garnet floater! Seen a few at much higher prices then I'm charging but not much better then this. The lighter area are made of lighter small microscopic crystals of a honey color. These piece looks like a flat coral standing up! Late Yanshanian Epoch. (80-139 million years) A better representative specimen from this now classic Chinese location. See Min. Record, Jan-Feb 2005 page 42. FromFujian Prov., near Tongbei, China.
