Loosely defined, Rare Minerals are:
1. Those found in a limited number of sources or localities.
2. The location may no longer be in production.
3. May only occur at one locality in limited amount and thus may only be in few collections, public or private.
4. May only exist as a crust on matrix or only as micro minerals suited only as micro mounts to be observed under microscopes.
5. A member of the Rare Earth family that require special testing that show it contains something like neodymium or Yttrium.
